Skin Care Tips for Modern Living
By raineer
I don’t know about you, but I find myself constantly on the go. From getting up in the morning to hopping on a bus or getting a ride to work, each day starts off as a rush to get to work. Once I’m downtown I barely have time to grab a coffee before I have to rush up to the office. Every day I’m surrounded by people and cars, and the smells of exhaust fumes are a constant fixture in my life. I have no way of measuring it directly, but I’m fairly certain a good portion of pollutions ends up on my face – and it probably doesn’t help that I wear makeup. When I add all this up and combine it with the stress I experience every day, it’s a wonder that my skin doesn’t break out in hives. But luckily I’ve built up a pretty good skin care regime that keeps my skin healthy. I take advice I’ve learned from other sources and added a few things that I’ve taken from experience.
If you want good skin, it’s important to hydrate properly by drinking a lot of water each day. You can supplement your water intake with fresh fruits with high water content to get vitamin enriched liquids. But nothing else beats pure water so get as much of it as possible and try to drink it throughout the course of a day.
You can keep your skin nice and healthy by eating properly as well. Make sure to get plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables each day and avoid fatty foods. It only makes sense that what you put in your body will affect your overall appearance in the long run.
You should wash your face regularly, but never too often or profusely. If you wash more than twice a day, with water that is too hot, or scrub too hard, you run the risk of drying out your skin. So pick a nice gentle soap that isn’t too abrasive and use small circular motions to clean your face well. If you feel you need a touch up during the middle of the day, you can use an astringent wipe to take care of some of the oil.
Exercise does your body good and it also helps when it comes to skin care. It helps to balance out your body chemistry and to just keep things going smoothly. If you stay sedentary for a long period of time, you might get that icky feeling where you feel sluggish and things build up on your skin. But a quick workout once in a while goes a long way in keeping you metabolism and natural skin regeneration going. Also make a list of high cholesterol foods to avoid and find healthy alternatives with fresh fruits and veggies.
At night, you want to make sure to wash off any makeup you may be wearing. And always choose lighter makeup that are oil free and don’t clog your pores. Make sure to get sufficient sleep at night with as few interruptions as possible. This will help your skin cells to repair themselves and your body to heal overall.
When it comes to how to get rid of acne, there are things you can do that coincide with general skin care. Always take care of what comes into contact with your face such as your hair or your pillow case. And avoid smoking like the plague because it can really do a number on your skin. And as always, stay out of the sun when possible because it can cause premature aging and wrinkles.
In the end, I’ve been pretty lucky with my skin in that I haven’t had to spend a fortune to keep up my appearance. I happen to be of the belief that once you start using all those creams and lotions you get dependant on them physically and mentally. So I try to stay as natural as possible when it comes to my skin and it seems to work pretty well so far.
